Celebrating with the Saints

in this time of year we celebrate the first coming of Christ - the long awaited Savior - God's promises of a coming Messiah fulfilled!!! Praise God for His faithfulness! He was faithful to His people long before Christ's birth and He has been faithful ever since... - we have a great hope in an amazing expectation of Christ's return for His bride - that's us!!! (if we know Him) - Somedays I just wish I was there with Him already - this Christmas is a great celebration but also a bitter reminder to me that there are so many left who have yet to hear of our Saving King - I want to be a light but I feel stuck here - so it's hard to balance the desire to see others know Christ with my desire to just be there with Him already - I know He is coming back - We can depend on our faithful God - I am so thankful for that - I have unfortunately allowed my mind to venture into doubtfilled places the past week and I was reaquainted with the desperation of unbelief - so sad to admit this to all of you - but through that time of Satan's whispers of unappealing lies, I reminded myself over and over again of God's promises and His Spirit comforted me and helped me to meditate on His faithfulness to Himself and to me - He is amazing and still proves Himself to me over and over - I don't deserve such love ...

I hope and pray that in this season we will be assured that each of us know and are growing in a loving relationship with our Savior Christ Jesus - I love Him.

Merry Christmas everyone!
"Come soon we are waiting Jesus..."

creative cooking...

so it's the holiday season - and i feel like i should be creative in my gifts and in the desserts/dishes i bring to parties or wherever...
but the thing about it is, there are these things called recipes - you can find them all over the internet, in stores, on the backside of cake mix boxes...and you can find them for whatever creative dish you want to make - it's amazing!!! but for some reason - it totally feels like cheating - i decided i was going to fix pineapple upsidedown cake for my family for thanksgiving - and i got a recipe and it turned out great! then when my family was all complimentary of my "cooking skills" i felt like i had totally fooled them - so funny...but i love it - i found out i'm not too bad at following instructions - why not get credit for that?!
i need more recipes

How much do you know about blogs?..

Well, You Know What a Blog Is...

You got 3/8 correct!

But, truthfully, most blogs probably bore you.

comment and post how much you know - apparently i'm a dufus.

the blog has been ignored!

sorry fans of my life...
haha - i know none of you really care - but my family in Charlotte needs to see pictures of my life in here ya go
there's so much i need to update ya'll on
for starters.... as you know -> we've moved!!!

we had a lot of "help"

here is our cute living room!!!

we celebrated our first night in the house with a lil sparkly :) (it's sparkling cider just in case you can't see that)

here we are - the happy roommates - freezing in our house - the heat/gas/water weren't turned on yet - but we were all moved in and wanted to stay - so i pulled out my space heater for patti's bedroom and we both just slept in there....

after a night of not much sleep (all new noises in a new place...and i can be kind of a light sleeper) i woke up for my first day of work early the next morning - and got ready without heat/water - it was hard to get out from under the sheets - but my first day was great - i love the girls i get to work with! this job is gonna be so much fun!
this is me, ready to go to my first day of work at Providence :):)

So this past weekend I stayed at my sister's house so we could all go to church the next morning and support her and John as they dedicated their new little baby boy to the Lord :) praise God - it was so great to be with my entire family for a bit - then on sunday after church my dad mentioned he had never gone to the State Fair and so we went :) we had a great time - my little sister won a water pistol racing game - she said she'd never won anything before - so it was a special moment :) i'm glad i was there for it

as i was thinking about other fun memories i've had with my family - one sticks out beyond the rest....times in the car with my dad - listening to the oldies station - and singing along like goofballs :) - this song was definitely our favorite :)

this is an audio post - click to play

I'm Employed - PRAISE GOD!

Some of you know this by now - but i still feels it's worth the post...
I applied for a job at Providence Baptist Church (the church I am a member of) - and i am happy to tell you that the Lord was gracious and allowed Providence to believe I might be an asset to the team - (we fooled 'em) :) - the title is "Project Manager" - it's under the communication dept. - I will be working alongside the design team at Providence and all the ministry heads that have project design needs - I am a bit nervous b/c i am starting at a very busy season for the church so there's a lot going on - I'm hopeful that the "learning curve" moves quickly so that my addition to the team isn't burdensome for anyone - i am so excited - i am joining the staff of a church I love and will be able to serve the church with things I've learned - (I was an Art & Design major) - it seemed to good to be true - i never thought that the Lord would use that dinky copy job for anything more than financial provision for the moment - but yes...even what i did there is going to be helpful in this position - crazy, i know - but through this i've been able to see and rejoice in how much God is over every detail - it's been amazing to see His hand guide every step of this - Patti's health has gotten so much better and it's no coincidence that it's "just in time" for me to start a new job and for us to move into a new place
i'll be working with some other girls that serve in the college class at Providence as well -
here's a picture of the working girls!! :)

jason and julie are engaged - i got a cute picture of them at a friend's wedding so i thought i'd post it and celebrate the good news of their engagement with the whole blogging world :)
what a gift each of you are - i am thankful for the ways the Lord has used both of you in my life - Praise God, He is bringing such faithful pursuers of Himself together for His glory
love ya'll

so we have great news for all the fans and followers of patti's health situation - she has not had a seizure since this past Thursday morning - PRAISE GOD!! please continue to pray as she is weaning off of the meds they had her on - this is obviously great progress and we thank ya'll for your support and prayers - the many people that have helped and assisted on all occasions have blessed us more than you know and we are so grateful! we are in a testing period now of not having any night help - it went well last night - we are hopeful that this will continue, but we know that the Lord gives and takes away - so whatever the Lord brings with each new day pray that we are ever-ready with thankfulness and praise in our hearts and on our lips for the glory of His grace given to us in Christ - we have so much to be thankful for :)

Shower for Meg :)

This is my sweet friend Meg - she is so cute - she had a lingerie shower tonight - and so the pictures of the shower that would be appropriate to post are minimal - but we had a blast!

of course i had to get the shot of allison eating :) every pregnant woman loves that!

the shower was at allison's house - she opens that place up for so many things - thanks to allison for the fun times and all the preparation - and thanks to meg for just being such a great sister in Christ - what a gift you are for Mr. Josh Blinson!

Great is Thy faithfulness...

So... i'm continually trusting the Lord to provide for my needs here in Raleigh - He has not forsaken me - and I know there is nothing i should be anxious about or start to worry about b/c He knows my needs before even i am able to see them - so especially now i can trust that He already is working out a plan for His glory -'s such a relief to just refocus and actually type that - i struggle sometimes living as though i believe it

He woke me up this morning as the gentle sunlight crept into my room - covered me with His gracious abundance of new mercies - and has sustained my breath to this very moment - what a gracious and faithful God we serve...

i thought it would be good for me to eat something good for my body this morning - even if it's not so great to the tastebuds - i opened my box of kashi protein packed cereal and poured myself a small serving - i felt really good afterwards about my decision to be healthy and it didn't even taste as bad as i had remembered - then i sat around for a while and looked on the table where there were cookies still left out that were made last night - i helped myself to one and then offered the last one to patti - she told me she had already had too many brownies this morning......
i was like..."what! we have brownies!?!" i had completely forgotten that sarah had brought some over last night - so then i rushed to the kitchen and ruined my morning of health by throwin down 3 or 4 brownies (they were awesome by the way!)
i'll start being more healthy tomorrow - after i finish the rest of them :)

patti patti bo batty

so a while back we went to get the ambulatory eeg for patti (equipment that recorded her brain waves for 48 hours) - she was funny as usual - laughin it up in the neurology office - mirror mirror in my hand, who's the craziest in the land :)
gotta love her (despite her vanity issues :))

the day she got her brain wave readers off i made her a batch of cookies to celebrate - then she had so much glue left in her hair that we couldn't get out so of course being the generous person i am, i brought her a couple of my favorite hat options :)
she loved me so much that day - since she was not much of a fan of my favorite hats she thought she would embarass me by screaming " - wooo wooo" out the car window to a bunch of construction workers - so she did that....
i love the way medication makes people funny

overall - we got the results from the eeg yesterday - they said nothing showed in the eeg - so she is going to talk to the doc today and figure out what the next plan is - thanks for your prayers

southern homestyle biscuits

mmm...mmm....good - i woke up this morning and patti wanted biscuits for breakfast - so i put some in the oven - they came out just right - (i'll teach ya later allison - we can have a fun lesson at your place next week) - it was a nice break to everything that has been happening in my life lately - just to sit and eat a biscuit with grape jelly - there's just something relaxing about that
i think my life lately has been crazier and a bit more stressful than i've allowed myself to believe - patti's health issues are back and forth as far as severity and frequency - so you never really know now when she's going to have a seizure - last night she went in the kitchen to take tylenol and just collapsed on the floor and went in to a seizure - no warning whatsoever - we are living in a 3 bedroom place (our 3rd roomie moved out a while ago) on month to month - so we are paying way more money than we should for rent - with patti's health issues and need for 24-hr care, neither one of us are working - i'm here all day with her and then a couple people from church come by at night to take shifts watching so i can sleep and be on again for the next day - by the grace of God i still have some money saved up from some band events that we did this past summer, so i've been able to pay bills and things - but i'm aggressively looking for a new place to live - and i have applied for what could be a great job i think, but still haven't heard anything back - i had 3 interviews and then they called for my references - hope to hear something soon - ....which poses another problem - we can't really move until at least one of us has a job - for some reason they don't really let that slide on a credit application - so even though we've actually found a really fun place to live, we can't submit applications yet - all this time i'm feeling like i'm not being wise with my money and feeling very wasteful stressing about paying a ridiculous amount of money for rent that could be spent on better things - but that's just one of the many thoughts that goes through my head during the day -
sometimes i think about things too much and stress myself out - but God has given me rest, new mercies, and a biscuit with jelly this morning - i love Him and trust Him to work out what He's doing in my life - i don't want to become anxious and start acting as though i'm in control - i know He will provide in His timing and that His timing is perfect - so this is a time of leaning on Him, trusting in His plan and provisions, and relinquishing all control (as if i ever had it) - i pray the leaning, trusting, and relinquishing never ends

    Which Theologian Are You???

this is neat - this is apparently my theological makeup - i am a tie between calvin and luther - maybe it's because i've been reading the institutes lately along with "here i stand" - makes sense ....- be sure to comment and say who you are!!!

You scored as John Calvin. Much of what is now called Calvinism had more to do with his followers than Calvin himself, and so you may or may not be committed to TULIP, though God's sovereignty is all important.

Update after Patti's Doc. Appt. i know you've all been waiting along with us for the results of the EEG and the MRI ....
well - they both came out great - normal - showing nothing
which is good for obvious reasons and bad b/c they don't know much about what type of seizures she's having or what the cause might be - so....the plan of action is to go back tomorrow, and she will be suited with an ambulatory EEG (they will put wires on her head to read signals and a box on her waist that the wires attach to, that will keep the record of the signals) that she will have to wear for 48 hours - we will go back on Friday to turn in the equipment and then she will have another appt. in a week for the results of that - in the meantime they've increased the dosage of medication from 600 milligrams twice a day to 900 twice a day - same medicine - so she's been a bit sick to her stomach today - i guess that is to be expected with the medicine increase... and she just had a seizure - the medicine increase will take a couple days to actually show an affect on her body -
i think that's all i have for you - keep her in your prayers and know that i appreciate every one of your efforts to help and serve
*we had been praying about how patti was financially going to afford this appt. - there was just no money anywhere - we got to the appt. and they printed out her form with a $365 balance in the financial area of the form - of course we were confused b/c she had paid everything in full up until this point (we were going to seek a payment plan of some type for this appt.) - anyway - so we went back up to registration and asked where the balance came from and they said that was a credit! so i don't know what happened - or who of you put money towards this - but praise God! the appt. was covered in full - it ended up costing 341.50 - all which was covered by the credit....
    prayer needs:
*please pray specifically that this ambulatory EEG will show the doctors more of what is going on so they can prescribe a medicine that is appropriate
*pray for patti to continue to stay strong in faith - trusting that God has a plan for His glory through this
*pray for me - as i just recently came down with a "cold-ish thingie" - that i will not be lazy but that i would continue to serve and not want to be served (i get real dumb like that when i'm sick)

    thank you so much
    i love ya'll

    Patti's Birthday!!!

Here are some pictures from Patti's b-day celebration on Sunday - just so you all know - she had a few seizures that day and has no recollection of her party aside from what people tell her and these pictures - so if you have anything to add to her memories of it she would love to know! also - this may be a more obvious note - if you made any type of plans with her or if you had an important conversation - please make sure to repeat those conversations - i love you guys - thanks for coming to celebrate!

    more birthday fun

well it all started with a great night at worship team discipleship/bible study - daniel decided to make the group sing me happy birthday (* i've never heard it sung so pretty :)* ) so i had to get a pic of the lovely renstrom couple wearing the birthday theme of choice spongebob party hats - ya'll are great - thanks for everything you all said - i'm surrounded by an encouraging bunch of jokers :)

after that some people went to ihop to celebrate with me as i ate pancakes with peanut butter - best combo ever! josh and pri brought the peanut butter so don't expect to go to ihop and just get it there - they don't have any peanut butter - i know i's craziness.

adam and nat checkin out my stirrers and straws

the queen of the tea shaker kit :)....yep, i'm officially a dork

roomies forever - haha - that'll probably end up happening you patti

    mike and tom being funny

dana and emily thoroughly enjoying patti's leftover pumpkin pancakes

tom had a lot of fun taking pictures most of the time we were there - thanks for that - i'm loving the artsy ones

    emily, me, & dana

    tom, josh, and pri

even the moon was beautiful - on the trip back to the house patti and i pulled over to take a picture of it - praise God for lavish gifts such as beauty around us that we don't deserve - His creation is leading us to worship Him - praise God!!!

overall - i am just thankful for another day and the mercies the Lord continues to pour over me - i am thankful for the friendships in Christ i've been granted - and i'm just so thankful for Christ - so....back to another day of living for His purposes and enjoying Him forever - be encouraged - Our God's goodness is what maintains our lives and makes them worth living - deep thoughts on a birthday...haha

"From the power of God we are naturally led to consider his eternity since that from which all other things derive their origin must necessarily be selfexistent and eternal. Moreover, if it be asked what cause induced him to create all things at first, and now inclines him to preserve them, we shall find that there could be no other cause than his own goodness. But if this is the only cause, nothing more should be required to draw forth our love towards him; every creature, as the Psalmist reminds us, participating in his mercy. “His tender mercies are over all his works,” (Ps. 145:9)." patti and baby jack are all the updates i can think of....
    1. Patti is feeling better every day - still has seizures daily but she has an MRI tomorrow morning before church - so we are anxious to get the results from the EEG and the MRI at her next appt. on the 20th
    2. Baby Jack has need of prayer for his health - please pray for him - and Faith is feeling better
    3. I just went to a wedding this past weekend - Erin Parrish and Dave Shaw are now married (i guess i was starting that like it was an update on me - but it ended up being more of an update in general)
    4. There really aren't any other updates to be told ....

i just want to thank everyone again who has given their time and love to care for patti - that means so much to me - thank you - :):):)
