i need to be reminded of the power of prayer daily - i am so inclined to believe that it just makes me feel better "handing things off to God" when in reality prayer is so much more. i'd love to hear your thoughts or a time when the Lord has answered your prayers to just remind me of His faithfulness and to encourage all of us. Please comment. Can't wait.

Oh Shelly do I ever know how you feel! So often praying for something is just one of those things where we can say "here God - fix it!" or "ok God, I know I'm supposed to ask and if you want to would you mind maybe taking a look at it?". I know I've prayed both those ways several times!
To me the thing that encourages me most about prayer is when I sit back and realize that it isn't about the thing or situation I'm praying about, but that praise be to His grand design that He allows a sinner like me to talk to Him - that He wants to hear my desires, my concerns, my burdens, and my joys.
It is hard for me to remember that it isn't just about "taking things before the Lord" it is about the opportunity to come before the Lord and be in His presence. Prayer is just another form of worship.
I remember when I had "patti - parties" and when I had the knot in my throat..... the list could go on.
There's a little girl in our special needs class.. she couldn't talk or interact with others. Just this past Sunday, I saw her clapping and suddenly this broken, beautiful word...., "J---E--SUS!" came out of her mouth and all of us paused to praise God. We had been praying for her for weeks.
The power of prayer.... God's grace - us allowed to talk to Him - I think you wrote a song on how He split the temple sheet that separated us from Him ... so we can speak to Him...
I love times when for a brief moment God reminds me that He is in control. Having daily conversations with Him, most times it doesn't even seem like prayer. Just a conversation with my Daddy, God! :)
