HELLO MY SWEET FRIENDS!
Great news - I am so grateful to those of you who have subscribed to this blog and to those that have stopped by to say hello every now and then - I have finally created a new blog that will be associated with my design/photography site and where i'll be able to update you guys on all sorts of fun stuff and share my thoughts on who knows what...

i have so much work i've been doing lately that i can't wait to share with you guys!

I've also been working on a new shellyeve.com site (design/photography) and have been working with Collective Front on a new shellymoore.com site (music). Both of those sites will go live in the next few weeks. :)

life in perspective.

so it's about time i wrote a post from me - just from me - my random thoughts in all their craziness. :) well...needless to say most people that know me wouldn't consider me "normal" - i'm a pretty far stretch - but isn't everyone weird in some GREAT way? i love that people are so different! it is so inspiring and encouraging to see how different and creative and ingenius our amazing God is, who created all of us. i love that french fries at wendy's don't taste as good alone as they do dipped in a frosty. these two tastes couldn't be more different but together... mmmm. it's perfect how the Lord uses differences in people to highlight each other's strengths and how even in collaboration as a church, He uses that to bring a sweeter taste of Jesus to those that might be looking in. our God is beautiful.

so recently i've made a big move back to charlotte, the city i grew up in. it's been wonderful to be with family again! i couldn't love it more. i've been able to take some music lessons, work on a ton of design projects and dream about ways the Lord might direct my steps. I'm such an open book - some people asked when i left raleigh, what my plan was.... and my only answer is that i didn't know - i knew i needed to move but that was about it. so we'll see what the Lord will do. I am His. i've clarified this a lot recently in random conversations but i thought it would be worth clarifying here as well since i don't get to talk to all of you on an ongoing basis... A common question I get is "what are your plans with your music? are you pursuing a label?" or "oh! you're touring! that's exciting!" or "what do you think it's gonna take for you to get to the next level?"
and well... here's my answer and a pre-qualifier - i don't say what i'm going to say to take away from people's joy and excitement from what the Lord might be doing in my life, because I am grateful for the questions, and grateful that people care to know what is going on - but i just want to make my purpose clear - from the beginning it was never my intention to pursue a music career... never my intention to pursue a label or to become a "successful Christian artist" - don't get me wrong, i don't desire to be an awful artist, haha - but from the beginning, it has been my sole interest to pursue Christ. Him alone. To follow where He leads. I write songs to Him - for Him. (and by "for Him" i don't mean on His behalf", i mean my life is no longer mine - I am a servant of the cross - so i write to point myself and others to him and to thank and praise him for who He is and all He's done) Tomorrow I may go to be with Him - or He may open a door for me to go overseas - or I could lose my voice and have to find a new way to point to Him - but that's our goal, right? it's to point to Him with every breath He gives - with all the strength that I can find (which He provides :)...such mercy) I can't wait to see what tomorrow holds but overall, the Word tells us to not be anxious about tomorrow for each day holds enough worry of it's own - and I LONG to be found faithful today.... that is hard enough.

one of my best friends in life has recently been diagnosed with a disease that is similar to cancer -- it could be fatal, but she is walking the path the Lord has set before her and without complaint - i see the peace of God in her eyes and hear it in her words. I have a different path before me at the moment than she does but God could change either one of our paths at any moment and it would all be to the praise of the glory of HIS GRACE. She knows that we can't plan our steps - the Lord has set His plan in motion and what a blessing it has been, that our eyes have been opened to behold this plan and to love this God, to know the faithfulness and witness the love of Jesus. it's an amazing life we live. may we live in light of eternity.

Promise Tangeman Wurzell is a fantastic designer who designed my band t-shirts -- she has a blog that is normally full of design posts and fun things, but recently she posted a video and some pictures of a sweet little girl named Kate McRae, who had recently been diagnosed with a very rare brain tumor -- Promise and her husband Brian are close friends with the McRae family --- I've been following the updates and praying, and realized that I should share it with all of my readers as well -- It has been beautiful in so many ways to see the response of so many people who have joined in to pray for Kate

I am having a great new year...started into it sick as a dog...where did that phrase come from - dogs are typically pretty healthy right? man's best friend? all those phrases are weird. so... moving on...

I'm finally getting better - and so I'm tackling the big issue of the season...resolutions. What are your resolutions for the new year? That's the question of choice for the last few days. Well, I will say I didn't give resolutions this year much thought. I came up with a list of goals sometime last year and haven't finished things on that list - in fact, some of the things I listed I don't have any desire to complete anymore. So no harm done, deleted it. :)

As I've thought about it a little bit more I've decided this year my resolution is to be RESOLUTE. That may sound redundant ~ I've had a great relationship with an older woman at my church who's needed some encouragement lately - encouragement in the midst of trial to stand firm in truth. Life will bring trial, temptation, stressful circumstances, yada yada... and these are things we are fairly warned about and specifically told to not be surprised by --- so in the midst of all of it, I want to be found resolute in TRUTH. Standing firm in the strength of the Lord, unyielding to compromise. This again, may seem obvious...but I think we all know, it's harder than it once seemed. RESOLUTE, surrounded by people who ask hard questions, who value nothing in me apart from the righteousness of Christ. I LOVE MY FRIENDS and my family. :)

i want to point out briefly (in case you haven't already noticed) that there is a new paypal donation link where you can support the band financially and help us get out on the road, or buy the equipment that we need for shows, or help us get health insurance - these are all good things - and God has been a faithful provider - I have just had numerous people ask for ways that they can help or if they could give financially to the band at some point, so that's why i have created that link - you will be able to find the link to donate on the band's myspace page (www.myspace.com/shellymooreband) or on our facebook page (www.facebook.com/pages/Shelly-Moore-Band/6238795535). side note: as you give to "the band" (if you are so led) know that you are not giving to making our lives more comfortable - any funds you would give would go directly to spreading this music that speaks of God's resounding fame, glory, and faithfulness... both in allowing us to travel and share this music live at shows and engage with the people who come, as well as allowing us to print enough physical merchandise to provide it to larger markets to distribute across the nation and *prayerfully* overseas as well.

so most of you know by now if you've followed my blog at all, that i am doing music fulltime and I'm also doing photography and design pretty-much full-time as well these days..... it's been fun - i've been taking loads of pictures lately - seems to be the season for it - and i'll be taking more this week - but i posted some more photos on my design blog that i took recently of a sweet friend of mine who is getting married soon. i'd love for you to look and let me know what your favorite picture is. the blog is www.stillframestudio.blogspot.com. so i've been looking into phones recently - i've been looking specifically at the iphone since it will sync with my mac and offer me endless direction with it's sweet gps function and internet accessibility... i am directionally inept and with band travel and not a lot of time, my texting has increased...all this costs money. I have not decided on the phone yet but I was talking with a friend and mentioned that i need to be more disciplined with my minutes - i was speaking about the minutes in my day but she asked "are you talking about your phone?! You have unlimited minutes!" -- and i laughed and said, "no, i was talking about the minutes in my day - but hey, i could definitely use the unlimited plan on those!....hmmm...i think i need the plan with the unlimited daytime minutes and unceasing prayer" --- oh how i wish. but God in his infinite wisdom knows that i do not need that kind of plan - even though sometimes i would totally desire it - i get overwhelmed with the minutes i have. and He surely knows i need the nights rest and the new day with new mercies. Oh that he would help me to be more faithful with the few minutes He grants - that He might receive glory and honor from this foolish child. and may i realize that He gives me just enough minutes to complete the tasks He sets before me, all the direction i could ever need in His word, and unlimited access to His infinite wisdom and ever-presentness in prayer. ....i still think an iphone might be nice.

i took photos of jessie and her sweet family yesterday! - I went to college with rhett and it's been a joy to watch the Lord work in his life and grant him the best wife in the world and a sweet son - and now another one on the way! Jessie has grown to be such a precious friend to me over the years - I am so grateful to know this family! and I can't help but have a little crush on Locke (the 4 year old in the picture) I mean...for real - can anyone resist his little dimples? Can't wait to meet the new addition...

a couple nights ago i was sitting at a stoplight near my house and a man was crossing the street in front of me - i had a strange feeling about it so i made sure my doors were locked - and as he walked he crossed in front of my car then came around to the passenger side and tried to get in my car - he started gesturing for me to let him in and began pulling on the door handle - i was so stunned for a moment as i looked at him shaking my head no and then my sense returned (this happened fairly quickly) and i ran the light i was stopped at to get away from him - i called the police and reported it so that they would be aware that he might try to get in another car - i wasn't sure what he was going to do but i was pretty shaken up about it and had a hard time sleeping (as this happened about a block from my house) ... my roommates are lovers of God and prayed for me and for him when I got home. As a girl, I have received forward upon forward warning me of "situations that could happen if a man gets in your car" and "what to do when..." - so my head flooded with stories - and I was so grateful in that moment that the Lord gave me a sinking feeling that led me to check to make sure the doors were locked. I thought through it all and wondered to myself, if he had gotten in my car and done things to me that were hurtful or scarring even, it would not make the Lord any less good. Man, that was a hard one to filter but it's so true - we are in a sinful place - so therefore we will be affected by sin - by our own and by the sin of others - and yes, God is able to protect us - but overall i have to remember that all things are under His control - and He is good. This is not heaven - I can not and should not expect to live here unaffected by the sin of the world... Paul was in prison - Stephen was stoned - Jim Elliot was killed - there are people throughout the Word of God and in the history of Christian martyrs who understood that these present trials do not make our God any less good. They just prove the depravity of this world and give us opportunity upon opportunity to show the world that there is a hope in this darkness - things to be seen their eyes have never beheld - things to hear their ears are deafened to --- may we know His WORD, that we may be ready at all times to point to the light in the darkness...
but of course if i can be of any service to anyone reading this now - i'd say pray daily - read His Word - and don't forget to lock your doors.

ok...so i was sort of biased to the hairless one of the last post but mike said it looked like an alien and taylor said a drag queen and james said a bald girl or a dude with fake eyelashes.... i was not expecting that - so then we added hair but lost some of the energy that the first had - so now...here is the final - a happy medium that still has the energy and dynamic composition of the first with the necessary hair of the second :) hope you guys are all happy and will all buy one. :) there are 2 more designs that will be releasing soon - these will be available for purchase soon - through a newly designed website (if i can get it done in time....if not, they will be for purchase here and linked to paypal...either way i'll let you know) now i just have to decide final colors... maybe i'll just have to print two versions.... :)

With May 27th street date around the corner, the debut album currently has three Top 20 singles in multiple formats

(NASHVILLE, TENN.) -- Underground Sound, Volume One, the first project in a new CD series that will introduce Christian music fans to the hottest up-and-coming acts in Christian music today, will be released by NuSpring Records on May 27, 2008, distributed by EMI-CMG. With the street date still a few weeks away, the album is achieving unprecedented radio success with three Top 20 singles in multiple formats, with two more waiting in the wings.

"Carl Cartee's 'Trust In You' is fast becoming a hit at Soft AC/Inspirational radio!" says radio promoter Mark Giles at Hit Radio Promo. "Currently 10 on the CRW Inspo chart, listeners are voting yes, yes, YES!"

In addition to Carl Cartee's Top 10 hit, Paul Alan's "To Bring You Back" is currently in the Top 15 on the CRW and R&R CHR Chart, and the Jonny Diaz single "Hold Me" is resting in the Top 20 on the CRW Indie Chart. In addition to these early successes, Jeff Johnson Band's "Ruin Me" is currently the top new and active song on the R&R AC Monitored chart, and should debut in the Top 30 of the AC Chart next week. "Something Wrong" from Separated is also getting attention from Christian rock programmers, and is only a few spins away from debuting on the R&R Rock Chart.

Other artists featured on Underground Sound, Volume One are Last Year Portrait, Maria Long, The Wrecking, Justin Cofield Band, Foolish Things, 1 Life, Shelly Moore Band, The Ride, Abbi Walker and Jessica McLean. Additional radio singles from the project are planned for summer and fall.

The producers started with over 1500 artists and narrowed the list down to the top 15 songs that represent the absolute best independent Christian artists in music today. So, a concert I was supposed to do a while back around the Campbell University area didn't go so well. I completely lost my voice before the concert - I went to the doctor and if I'm remembering correctly, I had a mix of laryngitis and strep. But it was too late to cancel the show so the doc gave me this numbing stuff that I was supposed to inject with a dropper into my throat....

We did the concert but had to end early. I think I was only able to attempt 3 songs - I already knew we weren't going to be able to do a full set so I called Jacob Taylor to open up and split the set - HE ROCKED IT - just him and his guitar but I loved the sound - I didn't get any pics of him but definitely buy his stuff - it has been such a blessing to me.

So the trip to nashville wasn't as bad as my blog post title might suggest, but God totally used it to teach me so much. I got to stop halfway at a friend's house in the mountains of NC on the way up and on the way back. It's beautiful there. On the way up I went to a small church where I was surrounded by people that didn't know me but welcomed me without reservation. The next few days I spent in Nashville, I was also surrounded by believers, and technically had more in common with them as we serve the Lord together in the same industry. But there, it felt as though people wondered, "Why should I know you...what makes you worth my time" - my answer would of course be the Lord is who makes me worthy - I have no worth to speak of that should make you turn your head... He has allowed me to be here - and He is good. I got a lot of very funny "you're an idiot" looks, when I told people there that I didn't actually know that this was GMA week - I was out here because I put an ad on craigslist. haha. Most people seemed to like my craigslist idea though - even though they thought it was funny.
SO glad I didn't actually go to Nashville to be a part of that GMA week - I do believe that God totally wanted me to be there at that time in His sovereignty - I did meet some nice people and got to hang out with Jeff Johnson (the guy who sang some background vocals on our last cd) a bit, who I never see since he lives in Dallas. So overall it was a really fun trip, but I'd say the Lord brought me back, appreciating the community he surrounds me with more than ever. It was just so overwhelmingly apparent that the music industry, although filled with believers, is a business. It is not the church. I'm so grateful I don't have to prove my worth to the people of God - (I have none :)) - and I'm grateful to those in the small town church that helped me to see that picture so clearly.

Goodbye to Skybus.

Well, it's a sad day guys. Super low rates on flights are no more, as skybus is calling it quits. I copied the announcement from their website and posted it below. Join me in a moment of appreciation for a great company that I never had the chance to use. sad.

Skybus Airlines will cease all operations effective Saturday, April 5.

Skybus struggled to overcome the combination of rising jet fuel costs and a slowing economic environment. These two issues proved to be insurmountable for a new carrier.

We deeply regret the impact this decision will have on our employees and their families, customers, vendors, suppliers, airport officials and others in the cities in which we have operated. Our financial condition is such that our Board of Directors felt it had no choice but to cease operations.

Passengers holding reservations for Skybus flights scheduled to depart on or after Saturday, April 5, 2008 should contact their credit card companies to arrange to apply for a refund. More information for customers and others will be made available on the Skybus web site (www.skybus.com) as it becomes available.

All flights for Friday, April 4 will be completed. Passengers holding reservations on flights for Friday, April 4 should check in for their flight at a Skybus kiosk at the airport instead of the Skybus website.

The God I Serve

So I've been going through the bible this year attempting to specifically note the character/interests/desires/aversions/etc. of the God i serve. The God who is. This love of mine. I seem to know more about my friends than I do about the lover of my soul and that was a challenging truth staring me in the face every day. still is. I'm excited about this journey - this study. I was encouraged recently at my church when a speaker came in to tackle the topic of the new atheism - he reminded us that God calls us to love him with all of our MINDS. As he said that, I felt as though there were a spotlight directly on my chair, as it was clear to me that I have focused too heavily on attempting to glorify the Lord by loving Him with my heart (which we are also called to). However, I realized that my heart has been weighed down to love without more knowledge to lead it to love more intimately. It makes so much sense to me now - to love Him with all my mind will affect how I am able to love Him with all of my heart, which will then affect how I can love Him with all of my strength - as my love will overflow from mind, to passion in heart, to strength in action. :) God is so good in every command - in every instruction given to us, His children. His creation. His.
Each nook and cranny of His Word is for our good and His glory.

I needed that reminder - I hope it encourages you too. Love Him. fully.

While Garrett was in DC, Lara's mom was in town and we had a great day taking some fun photos to celebrate her pregnancy with Jackson! I can't wait to meet the little guy. UPDATE!
ok...so in the last goals update post i told you that i was getting my computer fixed for free which was sooooo cool - such a blessing from the Lord! But the mac store didn't have the part I needed to get it fixed in any of it's warehouses - AND they don't even make the part anymore.... so mac wrote the rep at the store at crabtree that i was working with, and told him to give me a new computer!!!!!! AH!!!!!!!!!
so i'm getting a new computer - i had a powerbook g4 - and i'm getting a macbook pro! OH MY GOSH!
this is more than i could have possibly imagined! God is pretty incredible - not that He had to grant me a new computer to prove it - it's just His gracious providing hand extended to me...I am so grateful.

We are so blessed to be a part of this compilation cd - and even feel more blessed to be able to share the experience with a few of our friends who are fulltime as well - Jeff Johnson Band, Jonny Diaz, Carl Cartee...
Should be a fun cd. I think it will be sold everywhere cds are sold. :) May 27. Then I need you guys to call the radio stations and request Whisper by the Shelly Moore Band. That's the song that will be released on this compilation and we would love to have the majority of the american christian culture singing "You're not the God we made, You're not the God we could create..." and to consider the majesty of the God who is and the delight of hearing His voice above that of the world. :)

nashville was great - i learned so much from the meeting with the lawyer - i got to spend some time toward the very end of my trip songwriting with a couple friends, which was a complete blast! i can't wait to go back - these people are so flippin talented :)
fun times - anyway - thank you guys for your prayers! i also got to spend some time with some amazing folks who love the Lord - i saw the Lord completely use them in my life and perspective, and also me in theirs - that was cool to feel like i "fit" somewhere, even if just for a little while. It's cool when God does that. good to know you are being used - and you are where He wants you - i could be anywhere and with those gentle reminders that I am His and there is a reason He's placed me "here", I am content.
On a side note, I'll be open with you guys, I've felt such an intense need to be comforted by the Father. I've felt so broken, so ugly, so unrighteous, unworthy to come before Him, to be used in His plan - I say this knowing that if you walk with the Lord you can totally relate to this - so I am open, praying that in my weakness He will reveal His strength. It's been hard. But just tonight God reminded me of beautiful healing truth - He reminded me that He does not ask me to come pretty, or to come pure. He does not ask me to come worthy or with any righteousness I can count as my own before Him. He asks me to come repentant, not ready in my own worth, but ready to delight in the worth of His son - He asks me to come boasting in Him alone - He asks me to come at all times, delighting at all times - He does not ask me not to hurt - He says come all you who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. My Father does not ask of me what sometimes keeps me from coming before Him. Oh to delight consistently in such an amazing love! It is such a precious gift that I somehow figure out how to take for granted. But once again, here i am filled again by His mercy and grace with a contentment and satisfaction that He's allowed only by first allowing my brokenness.
What a gracious and loving King - His plan and continued work in and through my life is a mystery unfolding and yet His loving-kindness surpasses any I could ever know.

for part of this week i'm in nashville - i came to meet up with a lawyer out here who knows the music industry and who's going to work with me on the business set-up of the band - fun times right? well...it's been fun so far - i went to a show tonight at the wild horse saloon and had the best cornbread in my life - they served it with some sort of pecan spread - what in the world! it was amazing - the bands were hot hot heat/editors/louis XVI - i left before one of them got up - i think it was the editors that i didn't see - anyway...it was fun - a little lonely since i was on my own (friends out here were busy) but God reminded me of His presence with me in the sweetest little ways - so that was extremely gracious of Him and loving. :) I love Him :)
i'll keep you guys posted on the rest of my trip. :)

so friday was my last day at work and i'm now officially a full-time singer/songwriter... i'm working on learning guitar and mandolin and hope to be playing at our shows by the summer of 08 - i should write a song about it...
summer 08, oh how i can't wait, to play up on stage, and not hesitate, to strum a few chords, and not stand there bored, while mike plays the instrumentals, and i just go mental, but the day's fast approaching, when i'll no longer need coaching, i'll be adding my flava, to some tunes you can savor...
i can't think of much else and this is getting crazy - who says flava? i did. weird.

i'll be leaving my job soon to go full-time with music - so excited! it's a huge step of faith but I know He is faithful and will not lead me astray - I finally came to the point where I understood that this is where is He is leading me, and if it's to do one show and impact one life or if it's for a run of 500 shows or more, I will go. :)

so God has been teaching me a lot as usual - He is so good to us! God has been teaching me the significance of "casting my cares on Him" - Funny word to use there isn't it? "Casting" ... I was thinking about that the other day... you know, the only other places i could remember that term being used in the bible was when the fishermen were casting their nets for fish - i've done that once...man! it is so tough! the net is so easy to get tangled in - it takes so much strength and intentionality to cast it away from you - but once you practice casting it out a few times you get better and better - and you can throw farther - now...your throw never determines how many fish you get - that's just the chance of what's in the water - but i was thinking on the significance of "casting" my cares on Him who cares for me and it was neat to think about this analogy, as I believe all our trials are placed in our lives for a reason more significant that we can know - how easy it can be to get completely entangled in our anxieties!...but the only thing we are called to do is cast them on Him - the fishermen will never get to see any fish if they never cast a net - in the same way, i think we will never be able to see how God can use the trials He's placed in our lives for good until we lean on Him within them. We've got to take our cares/anxieties/trials to the Lord and trust Him to make those situations fruitful for eternal purposes - He brings the fish.

(I don't know if I explained this very well...it's clear in my head. :) ha.)
it's been an encouraging thought to me - hope it encourages someone in the internets

1. I love spontaneity - being able to just up and go anywhere and do something new that I've never tried - it's so fun!

2. I really like pants - comfortable pants - sleep pants/workout pants/a really great pair of jeans - i have a place in my closet patti and i dubbed comfy pant land. :)

3. I have always wanted to learn tumbling (gymnastics), how to play guitar (well), and how to hip-hop/break dance (like in those movies when there are teams of people who can jump all over the place and spin on the floor - for real - i know...i'm weird.

4. I love healthy food - except I hate most salads - unless it's spinach leaves with a sweet raspberry vinagrette dressing - yum... - i love blackberries/strawberries/blueberries/pineapple/.... (allison's pineapple upsidedown cake rocks! i'm not sure how healthy it is but it's gotta count for something) i don't eat on a regular schedule and i have to remind myself to drink b/c i forget so i'm almost always dehydrated (the doctors office freaks out almost every time I go - they always call me back after a "certain test" and sit me down with a gatorade - i don't like gatorade - it hurts my stomach).

5. I love being active and doing sporty things - i hate solitary exercise - i like to workout with friends or play volleyball/anything is much better than going to the gym by myself - i'm having to learn to just go the the gym anyway b/c everyone is too busy these days to get a group together daily to do something fun outside. ultimate anyone?

6. Most of my close friends are in other cities...i miss them.

7. I love to learn about music and design - this may not be completely random but i'm running out of randomness - i want to learn how to design everything! napkins/websites/you name it.

8. At Coldstone, I make my own ice cream mix - it is fabulous every time! vanilla ice cream/coffee ice cream/caramel - mix it all together - it's amazing.

well there's a lot going on - i'm going back to dallas next weekend to record bgv's and even though i though the last trip was going to be the final trip, i was mistaken b/c this one is apparently the new final trip - anyway - daniel renstrom with Providence approached us and asked if we (mike and i) would want to do our cd release concert there, and they could host it alongside worship ministry - sooooo sweet - that was such a blessing in many ways to have your church support you like that - and the people that we get to work with at the church are just incredible anyway. so the Lord is just being very gracious. the cd release is scheduled for MARCH 30 in the Delta Lake Center at Providence Baptist Church. i would love it if as many of you could come as possible! - More details will be posted soon.

hey - i'm going to dallas this weekend to record the final vocals for the new cd project - i'm so excited about this cd - there have been so many sick people around me, i've been a little nervous about getting sick as well (because we only have this weekend to finish) - but i realized how little my faith seemed as i know that God can protect and keep me from much greater things (than germs) - ha - it's funny to even type it ... but it's true and He has. and i'm so thankful!
I fly out Friday morning and get back on Tues. - the goal for release is March 07 - we are pretty close to being on track for this so i'll keep you posted (mom) :)
please pray for continued health and creativity as i am still wrapping up a few things with the lyrics and melodies.

so...i just moved into my new place - i love it - i am going to be starting a lot of projects i've postponed for so long - some paintings i owe some people... :) and organizing the photography i have - along with making more jewelry and such to keep my contacts in the local stores and love on them. It's been neat to see those relationships begin and grow as i deal with them differently than other artists they are used to dealing with. i've got my desk set up at my house - oh and i'm making the spare room a studio that local musicians can use - tomorrow i'm picking paint colors - i could probably use some help with that if anyone would like to join me. i have a christmas tree that is fake...it has rainbow lights - and a random assortment of a few ornaments that i have - it is from my church - they were giving some away last year after the christmas musical - and apparently i got there too late to grab a white lighted tree - but this one is unique - it definitely has it's own flair - my parents have always had a rainbow lit tree - so it's kind of welcoming and really heart-warming in it's own little scrawny way.
i'm grateful.

we have been having a great time - it's been so exhausting though - the process has moved slower than expected and we are recognizing that our role here isn't only in recording but God has us here to encourage some other brothers and sisters in Him and to encourage them to press on - so we are excited that the Lord has made that clear and we are doing all we can to follow as He leads - we are done with studio time for the week and are now a little further south in Mansfield, TX leading worship for a D-Now weekend for a youth group here - this is fun - but honestly we are so tired - and we have a lot coming up still - pray for renewal and energy - :) we love and miss you guys!

hey everyone - we are in texas right now - recording our new record...ha - welll we aren't quite recording yet - we are still finishing up a few songs - but the Lord is bringing it together - Joel (our producer and friend) and his sweet family have welcomed us to stay with them in their home for the extent of the time we are here - we will get to hang out with the kids a few nights so he and his wife can get out of the house - love it! the kids are great! they have 2 5-year-old twin boys and 1 3-year-old and they are so smart and funny - it's so much fun!
we will be going to church with them tomorrow and resting a bit i'm sure - then we'll dive deep into the recording process 1st thing on Monday - please keep us in your prayers as we desire this record to encourage our brothers and sisters to walk worthy at all times of life - to not be afraid of suffering - to rejoice at all times in sincerity - and to cling to Christ (as our hope is in the fact that He clings to us - and His grip will not fail).

so even though that sounds like a really deep title - i'm just giving you guys an update :)
mike and i leave to record the second original smb cd (hopefully we are changing the name of the band - i don't like it) haha - anyway - we leave early friday morning to fly to dallas - record - lead worship for a youth camp in dallas - go back in the studio and record some more - and then we'll fly back, Lord willing, Nov. 8 - we play the night of the 8th at Refuge at Providence - i work on the 9th - then we lead worship for Metamorphosis on the 10-12 - then i'm finding a new place to live - i got an extension on my lease at the house i live in now til the end of November - they aren't quite ready to sell it yet - so that's a huge blessing - if you know of any places please let me know :)
i think that's mostly all - please pray that the Lord expands our creativity and that i am vulnerable in my lyrics and that pride wouldn't keep me from writing anything that i need to say - pray we write truthful things and that we are honest and biblical in the songs.

AH! - i love hoodies - and pajama pants - i love all pants - not really a fan of shorts - peas taste really good to me - i really like cotton candy :) - i LOVE being outside, beach, mtns, my front porch, doesn't matter - just outside - phone calls make me feel special - mail makes me feel loved - singing is fun, i get lost in music sometimes - i have too many pictures - probably because i take too many pictures - i need to purge a lot of stuff - i want to move away from raleigh someday - i would love to travel and see more of the world - i can't wait for heaven - i struggle with self-discipline - my sin makes me really sad - Christ is my joy - i have 2 sisters, 1 brother - 1 brother in law - 1 niece, 1 nephew - my family isn't perfect but we have learned unconditional love - (they have to put up with me) - in high school i was on the tennis team - and on the swim team - butterfly was my best stroke - i love to dance - i've danced in the rain before - it was wonderful - i love the rain - and getting wet - i don't like sitting in front of computers too long - tazo passion tea tastes really good - an iced vanilla latte with extra vanilla is my favorite fru fru coffee drink - i love gas station brand French Vanilla Cappuccinos - i like getting dirty - and don't really mind staying dirty for a while... ha - i am moving soon (in raleigh still) - not sure where - God knows - i wish He'd tell me - i wish i was with Him and loved Him even more than I do - i love Him a lot - i'm in a band :) - i am writing songs now for the next cd - still not done - going to record in 2 weeks - stressed - i like hugs - i love my friends - i'm not sure how i feel about getting older - i like to snowboard - i'm scared of ski lifts - i have a fear of falling - skateboarding looks cool - i can't really stand on one - i like to make others happy - i love to laugh - my mom and lil sis are coming up tomorrow to love on me :):):) praise the Lord.

well, the past couple days we've done some shows - it's been fun - we played in the courtyard of colonial before they opened the doors for the shane and shane show - a few familiar faces came early to see us - it was nice to see some familiar faces - especially since it was local - we play a lot in other places with all unfamiliar faces and have gotten used to that to some extent - but i just always like to play locally - with the support of my friends and people that really know who i am - i don't feel like i'm fighting a front - it's nice.
anyway - and tonight we played at ncsu's bsu - and there was a guy there that was at an FCA high school leadership retreat we led worship for a few years ago - He was so encouraging and told us he had listened to our cd so much and was ready for the new one - (we are too by the way!)
so that's the new news! we are going officially to record in late October. I can't wait! i'll keep ya posted :)

so tonight i turned on the tv and flipped through the channels a bit to see if there was anything good on...and yes, my friends, HEE HAW saved the day - i used to watch that with my family - southern living at it's best. i hadn't seen or thought about that tv show in soooo long! it's just corny funny - so as i was watching i thought about another show with that guy from full house - he'd always say "cut it out" and then this annoying girl would screech "eie eie" - does anyone remember that show? i can't remember the name - maybe it was called "cut it out" - but i don't think so.

Raleigh Rescue Mission Needs Coffee

I was visiting the Raleigh Rescue Mission website and saw that one of their URGENT NEEDS is coffee - decaf and regular - I know a lot of people who work for Starbucks and Caribou, and I figure if you aren't one of those people, that you know some people too - also, there are ways to order mass amounts of cheaper coffee either online or at sams club or whatever - So let's help the Raleigh Rescue Mission and gather as much coffee as we can for them - Drop off your donations at the receptionist office at Providence and just tag it "Shelly Moore - Raleigh Rescue Mission" as soon as you can - and we will get your donations to them!
If you are part of a sunday school class, this might be a great thing for your class to go in on together.

so...i know it's been a while - i've been off leading worship with mike at youth camps - it's been a lot of fun - i've seen the Lord work in such magnificent and mysterious ways in the lives of some of the youth, the youth workers, and even me. i know what you are thinking ... "even you...right" - yep - it's been a long time comin - God is so gracious to continue to love me through all the sin he continues to reveal to me - i just hope that I am not wasting His time revealing it by returning to it. So, that's my prayer, that I would know true repentance to the honor and glory of His name. He gives me joy, let me not cover it. He gives me love, let me not stifle it. He gives me peace, let me not control it. He gives me life in Christ, let me delight in it. Please hold me accountable to this brothers and sisters. I need you.

anyway - there is another great story i'd like to share as well - there was an incredible girl i met at one of the youth camps - she's 15 - she knows the Lord and loves Him - i was encouraged by her love for people and her joy in Him - she was learning so much at the camp and toward the end of the week she called her mom to check up on her family and found out that her aunt had passed on just an hour before - this was very unexpected news - but ironically great news - as her aunt lived her life before the Lord - and delighted in His service - so i had the privilege to explain more about death and God's power over it to this girl - what an encouraging conversation - it was amazing and sealed in the rest of the teaching from the week as real and necessary. so good.
God is so good.
He has conquered everything bad - and uses it to His glory - which is our good. amazing don't you think? - i'm still trying to wrap my mind around it - so this is just another rambling from me about our incredible Lord.

Calling all girls - my sister just joined up with Mary Kay and is of course an amazing rep - she wants to throw a party here in Raleigh and I am going to host it at my house on June 3rd. I have no clue how many people might be interested in this - but the invitation is open to all - I just need a response for 2 things - 1. let me know if you can come at all... and 2. let me know what time works better for you 10 am? or 3pm?

if there is an even split or enough interested in both times, then we will just throw 2 parties :)

thanks for all of your helpful comments on my last post - i think i may be more organized than i thought - but i think my goal is to be like my sister, shannon - man! she is on top of things! she does not keep old clothes around that she doesn't wear anymore...she keeps the house looking great - she loves the LORD! she loves her husband and family in a way that is just beautiful to watch - and she's now an amazing mary kay rep (speaking of...i will probably be hosting mary kay party at my house soon for shannon - i'd love for all you girls to come and meet my sis! we'll all have facials and makeovers - haha - let me know who is interested - you can comment here or e-mail me) anyway - i've just been thinking about her a lot the past couple days b/c this past weekend she and her family moved to charlotte - they lived about 25 minutes away for so long! and now i'll have to drive 3 hours - life is so rough in america!

why do i keep junk e-mail around? i'm not talking about the horrid junk e-mails that come in already sifted...i'm talking about the forwards and the random info junk mails from people i know - i feel bad deleting those - as if they will care?! what is wrong with me - it's not a big deal right? no one cares if i delete that - in fact, people send it for a quick smile and expect deletion, right? i don't know why i feel so bad about deleting it - don't get me wrong - i'm grateful to be on the mailing list - it makes me feel loved :) - it's like someone sent me a letter (which is another thing i have a hard time getting rid of) and i can't toss it b/c someone spent time/money on me - and i feel careless or ungrateful throwing it away - plus it helps me to remember an event - but i just need to get over it and toss things i think - b/c i can know i was grateful without keeping the card or e-mail - now i just have to make the time to do it - to start deleting and go through cards and throw them away - ugh... then i'm going to see all the cards and e-mails and have all the memories - and go through my vicious cycle again - maybe i'll wait and do it tomorrow.

so all my friends are on this kick...this running kick.
i have never been great at running - but everyone is getting into it now - it sounds like a lot of fun if i could actually do it - but i've always been a swimmer - unfortunately, there aren't that many year-round pools around here where i can stay in shape - and i know what your next thought is..."well, shelly, good news! the pools are opening now - it's coming on summer time" yes....i'm aware - but yet again - once you are out of the habit of going to work out - the last thing you want to do is put on a bathing suit - haha - yep...i need to learn the art of running - but i think overall - i'd like to get back in the pool soon - swimming is definitely still my favorite.
(but if anyone has any helpful tips for running i'm all ears)

i drove to new york to visit an old college friend...

these are the flags flying at ground zero - there were so many tourists there taking pictures - i definitely didn't look like a local at this point.

on the way home we stopped for doughnuts and i saw these two dogs in the front seats - they were pretty intimidating.
but not too scary to take their picture :)
